      TRANSITIONAL LIVING PROGRAMS

Youth interested in participating in Transitional Living Services? Contact TFI Family Services at 1.800.279.9914.

No one makes the transition from childhood to adulthood in one great leap. It is a process filled with hard lessons and work. For some, the need to be independent comes very fast, with little experience and few opportunities. We offer teens and young adults who have been living in out-of-home care the opportunity to gain actual experience living on their own while in state custody.

We operate many apartments and serve young men and women as well as young parents with children. (We do not assume responsibility for any resident’s dependent children). When a young adult is ready to move into a single apartment, we help locate one. We pay rent and other apartment expenses so the young men and women can continue to focus on successfully completing the program and build a savings account.

Location

Program sites are located in culturally diverse neighborhoods. In considering a location for our apartment program, an emphasis is placed on:

  • Easy access to public transportation

  • Moderate safety for adolescent/young adult

  • Location to necessary conveniences

  • Availability of employment

  • Rental prices that reflect what the teen in the program will be able to afford when they move into the community on their own.
