On March 1, 2008, TFI Family Services was awarded a $20,000 Medicaid Block grant allocation from Value Options, the PIHP agency that oversees Medicaid funded substance abuse services in Kansas.

TFI areas to be served by this grant will be Pittsburg and Chanute. TFI has been a Medicaid service provider under the new substance abuse treatment system since the July 1, 2007 transition, but not initially part of the Block Grant Fund agency network. The network enhances the capacity to serve our clients who are not covered by Medicaid or other insurances, but who do qualify for services due to being 200% or below the national poverty income guidelines.

TFI believes that providing expedient access to substance abuse assessment/treatment services for our uninsured children and adult family members provides a significant difference to the families and children we serve.

This additional funding opportunity allows us to enhance TFI's services to families and children.
