Children’s Alliance Family Resource Project

The Children’s Alliance Family Resource Project (CAFRP) provides grant money to financially assist families experiencing a crisis which is placing children in the home at-risk for entering the State’s custody or out of home placement. Through this grant, TFI Family Services is able to assist families with the provision of three essential services – Flex Funds, Case Management, and Emergency Placement.

Flex funds provide grant money to financially assist individuals in specific counties designated to TFI by Children’s Alliance for families needing emergency financial assistance. Funds are used to purchase services, utilities, or financially assist families, who, if financial assistance is not provided, risk their children coming into State custody or out of home care.

Case Management and emergency placement occur when Juvenile Intake & Assessment Centers or Law Enforcement Officials working with non-adjudicated youth needing short-term, emergency placements, contact TFI’s Care Management Department. The Care Management Department works with these organizations across the State of Kansas to locate appropriate resource families established in or around each child’s community. TFI’s licensed resource family may provide temporary placement for the child up to 72 hours, excluding weekends and holidays while resources are set up at home for the child (ren) to return safely to their home.

By accepting youth for an emergency placement we are helping families manage and remedy problem situations by giving both the children and caregiver an opportunity for a break from each other and avoiding a crisis situation. TFI is also able to connect the family with community resources that will help them towards a safe, stable and supportive environment where children can thrive and families are strengthened.
